New performers and programme additions to the end of August festival Station Narva

Taking place for the third time on 26 and 27 August in the easternmost Estonian city of Narva, the music and city culture festival Station Narva has added new performers and activities to the upcoming event. The new additions include a presentation of books about Narva, boat rides on the river, art exhibitions and tours that introduce the exciting places, history and customs of the border town.

Station Narva 2020 Festival Pass is on sale for 20 euros at Piletilevi, 25 euros at the door.

The festival starts on Wednesday, 26 August at 10 am in the creative incubator OBJEKT at the Linda 2 business and culture centre with a Business Day that runs into the afternoon. The theme of the day’s presentations and workshops is centred on new business models and posterity in Estonian creative industry. Festival info desks will open both at OBJEKT and at the Port of Narva. 

Between 10 and 18.00, the festival pass holders have the opportunity to visit Narva Museum’s new permanent exhibition for a reduced price. From noon, visitors are welcome to visit Narva Art Residency, where an exhibit by the Painting Department of the Estonian Academy of Art completed within the TASE satellite programme will be shown. Free city stage concerts will take place at the Linda 2 centre and the Dahlberg Stage on the riverside, followed by a tour in the Kreenholm industrial complex at 16:00.

Boat trips on the Narva River will take place throughout the day and by the afternoon the Port of Narva will set up food trucks and workshops for the youth. At 18:00 doors open to the music festival that takes place on three stages – at the outdoor space of Port of Narva, at Art Club Ro-Ro, and in the boathouse of the historic cotton factory.

Liberian-born Finnish musician Jesse Markin will take the stage at 18.30, followed by the performances of Estonian artists Anna Kaneelina and Lexsoul Dancemachine, culminating with the headliners of the festival – the British drum’n’bass pioneer Roni Size, Danish rockers Iceage and the German electronic music duo Mouse on Mars. 

The rock stage at Art Club Ro-Ro and the dance stage at the boathouse have several new additions in the line-up. The Ro-Ro programme now also includes the Tallinn-based indie pop group Masha Ye, who claim that their ethos is “to give the public the gift of eternal summer, with all its dance parties, boat rides and lemonade”, as well as the host city’s beloved Tam i Tut.  

In addition, the bohemian Art Club Ro-Ro will see the previously announced Berlin-based Norwegian Bendik Giske, the indie rock band Levski from Tallinn, and Narva’s own young  pop rock group Pale Alison. 

The dance stage at the former cotton factory’s boathouse will also see performances by the Polish producer and singer Fremen, techno duo Bible Club, who’s making waves in the underground clubs of Tallinn, and the Jaama 6 DJs from the new creative centre in the nearby town of Jõhvi. 

Thursday, 27 August, will start at 10 in the morning with a Narva-style breakfast at the Narva Independent Creativity Center and public discussions BAZAR that will take a closer look at bullying as a problem that touches all parts of society across all age groups. 

At noon, Narva College is hosting a pre-publication presentation and meet-the-author event with historian and politician Katri Raik, who will soon publish her new book about Narva. At 14 the Narva Museum’s Art Gallery will feature a new exhibition “Narva – from the Datcha to the Palace” and a presentation of the book about the exhibition by the authors, art historian Karin Paulus and heritage protection specialist Madis Tuuder. In addition, the EKA painting exhibition at the Narva Art Residency will host a public talk with the creators of the exhibition. 

In the evening, all those who are interested have the opportunity to head over to the capital city for the beginning of the international festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW).

Station Narva festival passes are on sale at Piletilevi for 20 euros and at the TMW webshop shop.tmw.ee. Passes are also sold on location for 25 euros. 

The festival pass grants access on 26 August to both the music festival at the Port of Narva, as well as the Business Day at the creative incubator OBJEKT. 

A Supporter Pass for Station Narva is also on sale at shop.tmw.ee for 100, which in addition to granting access to the music festival and the Business Day includes a meet-and-greet with the festival supporters and team. Purchasing this pass will support organising the festival.

The Festival Pass and Supporter Pass should be exchanged for a wristband at the Station Narva information desk in the creative incubator OBJEKT (Linda 2) on Wednesday, 26 August, from 9 to 16.00 or at the festival information desk at the Port of Narva on 26 August from 14.00 to midnight. 

Access to the Business Day is free of charge for students and pensioners. Registration required. 

Visits to the Narva Museum on 26 and 27 August at a reduced price for Station Narva pass holders. 

Tickets to the Narva-style breakfast at the Narva Independent Creativity Center are 5 euros. Registration required.

The city stage concerts, the BAZAR talks and the Narva art residency exhibit are free of charge for everyone.
