The Station Narva Youth Lab, launched in August 2024 with the support of the Just Transition Fund, will carry on in the new year!

The next Youth Lab meeting is scheduled to take place on 28 January at the international programming school kood/Jõhvi in the capital of Ida-Viru County, Jõhvi. We’ll be presenting the activities of Station Narva to the students and the Youth Lab members, as well as to all other interested young people from Ida-Virumaa. You’ll get to know our team, and the training, led by Raik Ilves, will focus on design and design thinking, while taking the first step towards creating a new generation digi-platform.

Designer and digital experience creator Raik Ilves will introduce the basics of design thinking, explaining how design is not just about creating beautiful products, but something that helps find a way through the seemingly endless maze of ideas and challenges to a workable solution. Participants will learn how different design methods can be used to make physical or digital environments more user and environmentally friendly, inclusive and engaging, and how these methods can be used to change and manipulate our habits. They will get an overview of the impact of design and technology on environment and look at the examples of Station Narva and Tallinn Music Week festivals to see how innovative digital solutions can be implemented in event organisation.

You will also learn how the tech school kood/Jõhvi has transformed Jõhvi into a vibrant student town. Of course, you will hear about the Station Narva plans and meet the team members of Youth Lab creators face to face.

As part of the Youth Lab project, a team of young digi-enthusiasts and code/Jõhvi students will be formed, who, together with Raik Ilves, will create the new generation digital platform for Station Narva.

Come as you are, preferably with your head well rested during the holidays and in a good mood, as on top of the effective training you can also have fun!

The training is open to all participants of Station Narva Youth Lab, volunteer team members and kood/Jõhvi students. We also recommend it to anyone interested in all things digital and design. The session will be held in English, and pre-registration is required!

The Station Narva Youth Lab introduces creative entrepreneurship as a future career option and is building the next generation festival team with a strong regional identity.

The core participants of the Youth Lab are predominantly 18-30 year olds from the Ida-Viru region who will be involved in the organisation of the 2024 and 2025 festivals. The programme offers young people the opportunity to take their first steps in event management, enabling them to become a driving force for the next generation of festivals and the region’s creative sector. Individuals aged 14 and over are welcome to apply to join.

The Youth Lab provides training and practical opportunities in sustainable event management, guided by experts from the Station Narva and Tallinn Music Week teams, the technology school kood/Jõhvi and the creative incubator OBJEKT. The youth team will participate in the organisation of the Station Narva festival and create a new digital channel for the event, bringing their dreams and ideas to thousands of people.

The two-year Station Narva Youth Lab project is co-funded by the European Union’s structural funds via the Just Transition Fund. Project partners include the Station Narva festival, the creative incubator OBJEKT, and the technology school kood/Jõhvi, in collaboration with digital development specialist Raik Ilves.
