Flowdan, the groundbreaking Grammy-winning MC and producer, stands as an iconic figure in the realm of British urban music. Over his two-decade career, this East London artist has emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in electronic music by infusing ragga into dubstep and grime into dancehall, creating dark, war-ready music, where rolling basslines provide the perfect soundscape for his distinctive flow.
Flowdan’s rise began in the garage collective Pay As U Go, and later as a founding member of grime pioneers, Roll Deep. In 2007, he made his mark on ‘Skeng’,’a digi-dancehall masterpiece by The Bug featuring Killa P released by the esteemed Hyperdub label.
2023 saw the release of Flowdan’s ‘Rumble’ alongside production royalty Skrillex & Fred again. – an explosive anthem that soared up the charts globally. Later in the same year, Flowdan performed it at the ‘Battle of the Baddest’. a boxing match between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, broadcast to millions of people worldwide. Following ‘Baddadan’ with Chase & Status, Bou, Irah, Trigga & Takura earned him a gold-certified record. In 2024 he made history by clinching the prestigious Grammy Award, a groundbreaking achievement that solidified his legacy as the first British MC ever to receive this accolade.
