Business and Innovation Day at Station Narva festival brings together Estonian tech companies and Ida-Viru County businesses

On Friday, 21 September – the opening day of Station Narva festival, Estonian tech companies, the e-Residency team and businesses from Narva and Ida-Viru County will meet at the Business and Innovation Day at the University of Tartu Narva College to find new business opportunities in the area as well as across the border.

Station Narva 2018 is part of the Estonia 100 festivities. The festival is powered by Telia, Narva Gate and Rand & Tuulberg.

The Mayor of Narva Tarmo Tammiste opens the presentations programme at 10 am. Ivan Sergejev, the chief city architect of Narva, and Kristina Kallas, the Director of the University of Tartu Narva College, give an introduction to topics related to Narva. The CEO of Telia in Estonia Robert Pajos discusses Telia’s future plans and the vision for innovation, Kaspar Korjus shares e-Residency possibilities for businesses operating in Ida-Viru County, and Juhan Lepassaar, the Head of Cabinet for the Vice President of the European Commission Andrus Ansip, talks about the opportunities and challenges of the digital single market. Teet Kuusmik and Vadim Orlov give an overview of Narva industrial parks, and Janno Meriloo, the development director and board member of construction company Rand & Tuulberg, discusses the development plans in Ida-Viru County. Darja Saar introduces the ambitions of the newly launched creative industry Creative Narva, a Professor of the University of Oslo Gunnar Liestøl presents an augmented reality app of the Old Town of Narva, and multimedia business incubator OBJEKT, which will soon be launched in Narva, introduces local start-ups.

The second half of the day, starting at 2 pm, is focused on workshops organised by the e-Residency team, Telia TechGirls in cooperation with TechSisters, and digital media incubator DIGIX. There are special tours of the city of Narva and trips to Narva Industrial Park available to those who are interested.

An exposition area is open at the foyer of the University of Tartu Narva College where visitors can find DIGIX games cafe, Experience Sweden virtual reality area, Telia charging stations, the humanoid robot Pepper and the e-Residency booth.

Station Narva Business and Innovation Day welcomes Narva and Ida-Viru County businesses as well as Estonian and international companies who are interested in that area. In addition, the event introduces Ida-Viru opportunities to e-residents who are establishing a company in Estonia or are already operating here. Narva with its unique location at the border of the EU and Russia, just 130 km from Saint Petersburg, offers special business opportunities for companies dealing with international trade, logistics and manufacturing. Foreign journalists from Russia, Finland, Germany and the United Kingdom will also attend the Business and Innovation Day.

Station Narva festival offers a great opportunity to combine business and entertainment, and to find new connections in Ida-Viru area. Partners of the Business and Innovation Day are the City Government of Narva, University of Tartu Narva College, Ida-Viru Enterprise Centre and Tourism Cluster, Narva multimedia incubator OBJEKT, digital media incubator DIGIX and Creative Estonia.

Entry to the Business and Innovation Day on 21 September at Narva College is granted with Station Narva Festival Pass. A group discount price (32 euros) is available for purchases of more than six festival passes. Festival Pass includes access to presentations and workshops at the Business and Innovation Day as well as to all the concerts of Station Narva music festival. Both Festival Pass and Single Day Ticket must be exchanged for a wristband either at the Station Narva information centre in Narva College or at the location of the event.
